SO CLOSE TO A SNOWLESS MONTH
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
As of this writing, we're oh-so-close to exiting this month unscathed of any snowfall. However, with graupel falling, and temperatures continuing to fall into the overnight Friday/early Saturday, it could be possible for snow to be reported at the airport.
HOWEVER, if it DOESN'T happen by Saturday morning, the month of November 2009 will keep away the snow. The image above shows how the warmth makes a push back in by the end of the weekend, as we climb back up into the mid-upper 40s. High pressure will also fill in a bit, ensuring a drier setup for most of the weekend.
But don't get used to the pleasantness of all this. All indications in the medium to long term show some cooler air escaping the arctic and pressing into the Northeast. There's still LOTS of winter ahead of us!
