ICY EAST OF ROCHESTER INTO SATURDAY
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
First things first, want to reiterate what Brian posted earlier about the icy travel heading east between Utica and Albany late tonight into early Saturday. A cold air bubble, mainly near the surface will create trouble spots, especially on roads less traveled as temperatures cool down overnight tonight into early Saturday. If you're heading that way in the next day or so, be careful!
On a lighter note, I wanted to post this satellite image from earlier today. I've said it before: the worst weather yields the coolest pictures. Just look at the size of that mass of clouds... Wyoming to Florida! That's a pretty impressive feat!
Showers mix in with a few flakes Saturday afternoon, then transition to snow showers by Sunday morning. We'll wait for the winds to line up before we place the location/amount of snow coming off of the lakes late Sunday night and Monday. Just know that it'll be colder to end 2009. Happy Holidays!
Here we go again. Models are locking in on an East Coast storm for New Years day and they are taking the storm well South and East of Rochester. If this holds true we will once again be spectators to major snow.
ReplyDeleteSomeone in the NE is going to get buried over the New Year weekend. The models are showing a major East Coast storm and also stalling it. The models have been trending Westward on the storm and have it hugging the coast keeping us on the edge, as usual. We will see if the models keep trending it westward to give us a snowstorm.
ReplyDeleteNot even getting my hopes up. It'll either go east, or west.
ReplyDeleteLet's get this blog updated, Metcalfe.
