COLD WEATHER READY TO TAKE A VACATION

Written By: Scott Hetsko
I've got a feeling that our weather will take a long turn for the milder here beginning Thursday and lasting through next week. The bitter cold air will remain trapped in Central and Western Canada along with a Westerly Jet will insure milder weather in Rochester. Temperatures will flirt with 40 degrees Thursday and Friday. Longer down the road, I wouldn't be surprised to see the mercury push 50 here by mid week, next week!
This isn't the end of Winter, just a break! Remember that El Nino Winter's usually have this type of pattern. Two weeks of cold, two weeks of mild. I still expect colder weather to return but it may not be until the last few days on the month.

  1. On the bright side (if you like snow), it will help maintain a little extra heat in the great lakes for some added LES potential once the cold air returns. Especially for Lake Erie, which was though to freeze over soon. Scott, where is this cold air going to be? Is this the "re-load" that everybody is talking about? Do you think the next surge of cold air later in the month or early February could be as intense as the last one?

  2. We finally have a great snowpack. I knew it would not last. Boring weather ahead. No storms in sight.

  3. Winter is not over by a long shot. I think Scott would agree that we're still due for a BIG one.
