SNEAKY COLD AIR COMING?
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
I think that the late week is going to serve us up a decent chill. The trend from the models this year has been to downplay the cold 3-5 days out. This image is the forecast for Friday morning 850mb temperatures. As seen in the temperature key, they're in the -20 to -25 degree celsius range. That's pretty cold.
Right now, I have the forecast in the upper teens for Friday and Saturday, with corresponding overnight lows in the single digits. Depending on cloud cover, those numbers could be a little warmer, or even much colder. I'd be willing to bet that we see the next few runs bring even colder air, which would mean adjusting things down even more.
It looks like yet another waste of cold air. No storms in sight.
ReplyDeleteBob,
ReplyDeletehow are things looking in the snow department in the next week?
No ideal set up is in place at this point. We'll see the few inch totals off of the lakes through the end of the week. But, if we see a turn in those winds, we're talking an easy and quick 6" in favored spots. As you know with lake effect, you can't really call amounts or placement 3, 4, or 5 days out.
ReplyDeleteI can see an inch or two across most areas on Tuesday though.
