SO CLOSE TO SUNSHINE!
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
As of now and continuing for the remainder of the week, we'll be seated right on the straddling line between gorgeous sunshine and passing areas of snow showers. It begins this evening with a very weak area of low pressure scooting over the western New York region, bringing a dusting to an inch mainly northwest of Rochester. The lake effect snow activity is all well away from us, mainly east of Lake Ontario in the Tug Hill region. That's what should be expected with an almost perfectly aligned westerly wind.
As the image above shows, high pressure will post up in the Ohio/Tennessee valley area, just shy of us saying pure sunshine. Weak waves of light snow will pass through early Monday and Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday. Snowfall of any impact should not occur at any point.
I think that the sun will win out beginning Thursday and continue through the first half of Saturday. No big deviations from "normal" temperatures in the low 30s look imminent, so we'll stay in this pattern for a while.
Another mid-Atlantic snowstorm we will miss out on again next weekend. There is a shocker. The nickle and dime Lake effect continues. It is hard to believe that places like DC has seen 2 big snow events already and we have seen NONE. I beleive we will go the whole season w/o one snow storm. It is hard to beleive we are average when it comes to snowfall this year. Fluffy lake snow accumulates higher, obviously, than real snow from a synoptic system. That is all we have had this year, flufy lake snow. BORING..........
