COLD AIR COMING?
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
All you snow/cold buffs may get one last hoorah before the winter season is officially over. Actually, this cold air blast could potentially arrive on the first full day of meteorological spring!
I'm not one to take long-range model output for gospel, and I certainly wouldn't get worked up over the "storm" depicted in this model image, but the cold air grabs my attention immediately. If this cold verified, it would be the coldest air of the month, and bring with it a potential for a few last-ditch-effort snowflakes next weekend. The reason I'm even considering giving any credence to this is the NAO (north atlantic oscillation). Its near-neutral right now but slated to go into negative territory over the next 7 days, usually a good sign for a Greenland block that sets up the northeast for some cold.
So we'll see about this interesting little feature. Mr. Hetsko seems to think we have one last dance in us... but that's just his gut feeling. I find myself however believing his gut feeling more and more as time goes on!
Oh yea, before that however, the sun and mild air that will precede this "cold" will melt virtually all the snow away.
Fine with me, Perhaps I will get to use the plow one last time......
ReplyDeleteNot fine with me. I'd like to use the clubs for the first time this year and now that the salt is gone get my antique car out on the road. No more snow!!
