GUSTY WINDS LATE TONIGHT, EASTER STILL LOOKS GREAT
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
Dual 86 degree highs bring us a tandem of record temperatures, but the streak will soon be over with. These are the hourly surface obs from 5pm, and its plainly obvious that the winds are quite strong to our immediate west (for those of you that don't know how to read surface obs, look at the barbs on the ends of the arrows. A long one means 10mph, two means 20, two and a short one means 25, and the GXX means the gusts for the last hour) There are widespread 20-30mph readings in there with gusts near 40, which is expected here within a few hours (9pm or so ) and will continue for a few hours after midnight.
Our bone-dry air however will manage to keep any rain chances away. Relative humidity as of this writing was 25% at the airport, a stunningly low number. In fact, clouds clear out fast by Easter Sunday and bright sun will be had by all.
The cold front will deliver temperatures 20 degrees cooler than where we currently stand. Typically, that'd be a shock. But 20 less than where we are now still puts us at the mid 60s on Sunday, which is actually decently above-average for this time of the year!
A little more unsteady as we start off the new week, but the details are minute, so timing them out is difficult. We could also hear our first rumble of thunder by Tuesday night.
