SIGNIFICANT & MUCH NEEDED RAIN TONIGHT & TUESDAY

Written by: Brian Neudorff

Most of our Memorial Day will be nice, dry and sunny. There is a risk for an isolated storm to form in the afternoon & evening but most will stay dry. Any activity, if any, we see this afternoon would be out ahead of a very slow moving cold front that is moving out of the Midwest this morning. It will arrive and cross western New York late tonight and early Tuesday morning. This will spark numerous showers and thunderstorms. Not much of a threat of severe but we could see some very heavy rains with this system. As you can see from the FutureCast model from this AM some places could see an inch or more of rain.

For the month of May, Rochester is only lacking by 0.17" with a monthly total of 2.55" but most of that fell in the first half of the month. Since the 14th we've only received 0.26" that makes the heavy rains forecasted tonight & Tuesday some much needed rain. Also we need to help get rid of all those cotton wood seeds that are flying all over my neighborhood.
