ALEX NOT A DIRECT HIT ON GULF OIL SPILL
Written by: Bob Metcalfe
This is the most recent data from the NHC with regards to now Tropical Depression Alex. Alex weakened quickly after making landfall over the Yucatan Peninsula, and is expected to re-strengthen after it is back over the waters of the southern Gulf of Mexico. It could even attain weak hurricane status by Tuesday.
But the track right now is NOT conducive to a direct hit on the region hardest hit with the leaked oil. While no tropical storm path is a good path, this one will at least minimize entanglement with most United States interests.
