THIS WEEKS HEAT WON'T BREAK ONE RECORD

As you sit in your on pool of sweat, I'm sure it's of little comfort to know that although we're hot, we won't see one day break any records for Rochester. In our history, this is week of July has the honor of being our hottest week with regard to records! Back in July of 1936, Rochester recorded 3 consecutive days over 100 degrees!
The heat wave will continue through the week until a slow moving cool front delivers showers, storms and some relief for the weekend. Even this weekend we will have above average temperatures, just not the searing heat we have had the past few days.
A town or two may see an isolated shower pop up in this airmass either tomorrow or Thursday afternoon. The chance of this is under 5% so you likely won't be lucky. Now go find a pool!
Scott, why do we keep getting cloudy skies in the afternoon over the last couple of days.
ReplyDeleteJust enough rising air to produce some afternoon cumulus. I do expect a few pop up (isolated) showers after 2 p.m. both Wednesday and Thursday afternoons as we'll no longer be under the center of high pressure at the surface.
