Summery Look & Feel will Continue Today
Written by John DiPasquale:
High pressure that has provided us with the stellar not October like weather since mid to late last week continues to spoil us! Highs today unde2r a lot of sun will be in the mid to upper 70s. Perfect!
Unfortunately, the high will finally slowly lose it's hold on the region later Tuesday & especially Tuesday night into Wednesday, as it drifts to the east. Highs should range from about 70 to 75 Tuesday, which is still well above the average of low 60s for this time of year with fading sun Tuesday. The high ironically will guide a developing storm currently down in the southeast/near the Georgia/Carolina coast to slide north & ultimately provide clouds & some rain late tomorrow night into Wednesday. You knew this great weather could not last forever, but we will take what we can get this time of year. Highs on Wednesday with the rain will be kept back into the low to mid 60s, much more typical for mid October standards.
Beyond Wednesday, it should be a drier day Thursday with just a few scattered lingering showers & possibly even a bit of sun mixed in there. Highs Thursday should make the mid 60s.
On Friday, a cold front will slide through with a scattering of showers & some gusty winds. This will cool the temperatures back into the mid to upper 50s for the most part & the gusty breeze will make it feel even colder.
It will likely remain brisk & chilly this weekend with intervals of sun, especially Sunday. There also could be a couple of widely scattered showers passing by. Highs will probably be in the mid 50s to low 60s, which is about where we should be for the middle part of October, unlike this past weekend. Stay tuned for updates as new information becomes available to us through the week. Enjoy the incredible weather out there right now everyone!
Did anyone see the NWS preliminary Winter forecast? They are calling for a moderate La Nina which they say means a milder than normal winter. Not sure if that is good or bad for snow lovers.
ReplyDeleteIt'll be similar to last year as long as that blocking high sets up like it is supposed to. Now, all as we need is that storm track to shift a tad to the west and we will have plenty to blog about this winter.
ReplyDeleteYes. A moderate La Nina is forecasted through the winter, but the biggest questions will be whether or not the block sets up & it's exact position?? Should be interesting to see how it all pans out! We have not had a winter with lots of nor'easters impacting us here in WNY & CNY, so we are due. HOWEVER, we are also due for a lackluster winter because we have not had one of those less than 80" winter's in a long time either. Again, it will be very interesting, as it always is, to see what actually happens. Drum roll....
