Blustery Today, but a Real Treat Thereafter

Written by John DiPasquale:

Gusty northerly winds will make the upper 30s feel more like 25 to 30. Bundle up if you are going to be out & about this afternoon.

High pressure will build in from the South & West tonight into our Thanksgiving & set us up for a real treat tomorrow. A good deal of sun will shine, & the temperatures will warm into the low & mid 50s with the help of a southwest breeze.

Get this...Friday is going to be even better! More sun, a warming breeze & highs into the low & mid 60s!! Wow!

The remainder of the holiday weekend will feature some clouds later Friday night into Saturday morning due to a backdoor cold front that should stall just to the North before retreating to the North as a warm front later Saturday. As a result of this, we should feel the low 60s again Saturday afternoon with a good deal of sun to round out Saturday. On Sunday, a slow moving cold front will throw more clouds in here, & possibly a few showers for the afternoon, but it will remain very mild with a gusty southerly wind. Highs Sunday should make the low 60s yet again!

After one more really mild day Monday, we should begin to turn much colder Tuesday, & especially later next week as we kick off December. Yes, at this point, it looks like we may even have at least a bit of snow in the air to begin the new month or just thereafter. We'll see. Hang in there snow lovers. Your time is coming...

  2. THE NWS IS SAYING THE POTENTIAL FOR LAKE EFFECT BUT ON A WSW FLOW WHICH MEANS NOTHING FOR ROCHESTER IF THAT HAPPENS.BUFFALO WILL GET IT.

  3. Lots of snow in Siberia and the Arctic. Isn't this a necessary ingredient for cold air masses for the east and the blocking pattern of NAO and AO?

  4. Colder air mid week next week with local lake effect snow. No long term sustained cold shots for awhile. December begins next Thursday. Remember it takes awhile for polar air to grow colder. It's been frigid in Alaska for at least a week with -20 to -40 degree air.
