Cloudier, but Still Mild Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

Unseasonable warmth continues today through Wednesday, as you can see in the temperature trend graphic displayed to the left. The average highs this time of year are only in the low 50s, but clearly you can see temperatures will be averaging a good 10 to 20 degrees above average through Wednesday! The area of high pressure that provided all the sun & moderating temperatures this past weekend will continue to control the weather around here through mid week. We will have to contend with more cloud cover today through Tuesday morning compared to the weekend, but there still will be intervals of sun from time to time, especially this morning. There may even be an isolated sprinkle/shower in a few spots late today through Tuesday morning, but most of us will not see it.

After a warm & fairly windy Wednesday with a good deal of sun, a strong cold front will blow through Wednesday night/early Thursday with a few scattered showers. This will be followed by an unseasonable chill developing Thursday into Friday with a bit lake effect snow &/or rain possibly developing Thursday night into Friday. Highs will drop back into the 40s with 30 something degree wind chills! Brrr...!!!

So you would expect Thursday & Friday's chill to stick around, right?? No, actually! It appears that broad southerly winds will develop for much of the upcoming weekend & once again we will feel a nice warm up! Temperatures should climb back into the 50s Saturday, & possibly to near 60 by Sunday! I still do not see any significant bouts of winter weather (snow) over the next 7 to 10 days at least.

Have a great day WNY & enjoy the nice weather through Wednesday! We'll see if we tie/break a record high Wednesday afternoon. The record in Rochester Wednesday is 74 set back in 1999. Stay tuned!
