Warmth Peeks Tomorrow

Written by John DiPasquale:

Well, November has been quite nice so far, but of course I'm sure many of you are wondering when is it going to end & turn wintry? At this point it does look like it will turn much colder & more seasonable, or even a litte colder than average by week's end. However, it should not last, believe it or not!

Today will feature a mostly cloudy sky this morning, but during the midday & afternoon a good deal of sun should develop from South to North. Temperatures will likely top out in the mid 60s this afternoon. Just another balmy, pleasant November day here in WNY! If you think today & yesterday were warm, which they were by November standards, a warm front pulling North of the area later tonight will instigate a south-southwesterly breeze late tonight & especially Wednesday and warm us to near record levels tomorrow! The record in Rochester for Wednesday, November 9th, is 74 set back in 1999. I don't think we will tie or break it, but I believe it's going to be close. I expect highs to be around 70, if not a bit higher, especially under a good deal of sun. Wow! Great stuff for November!

Reality will return late Wednesday night into early Thursday, as a strong cold front will sweep through with a few showers & maybe a rumble of thunder. Behind the front, it will be MUCH colder with highs Thursday in the upper 40s to around 50, which is seasonable. There will be some sun Thursday, making it feel a bit nicer, but you will definitely want to have some kind of jacket on when heading out Thursday.

On Friday, Veterans Day, it will be blustery with a few lake effect snow & rain showers in the air. Highs to end the week will only be in the low to mid 40s, with wind chills in the 30s.

The weekend looks quite good right now with a pretty good amount of wind, but it's those winds that will help us warm back into the 50s, & POSSIBLY 60s on Monday! Precipitation wise, it looks mainly dry this weekend, with some sun expected, especially Saturday. So yes, it appears like we have another pretty nice weekend on the way! Stay tuned.
