Near Record Warmth Today!

Written by John DiPasquale:

Good WARM Wednesday WNY! Wow! Is probably what many of you are saying, or will be exclaiming when you step out the door for lunch, or when heading home later this afternoon/early evening. The combination of a warming southerly flow, good deal of sun & an unseasonably mild air mass will set us up to make a run at the record high of 74 this afternoon. I believe we will fall a little short of it, but either way you slice it, it's going to be very warm & great to be out & about on this 9th day of November! Get out & enjoy everyone, even if it's only for a 25 to 30 minutes during your lunch break this afternoon.

Reality will return later tonight into Thursday, as a strong cold front blows through with a few showers later this evening & overnight. Temperatures will drop into the mid to upper 40s by sunrise Thursday, which is not bad at all, but the difference will be that temperatures will not move much, & probably actually fall a bit during the afternoon after peaking around 50 early. There will be some sun, making it feel a little better & look nicer, but boy you will feel the difference come tomorrow with a brisk breeze to boot!

Late Thursday night into our Veteran's Day it will be blustery with scattered lake effect snow & rain showers around! Highs on Friday will only manage the low to mid 40s.

Veteran's Day weekend will turn nicer after a morning snow/rain shower, some sun will be with us, & temperatures with a brisk breeze will rebound to around 50 Saturday afternoon. On Sunday, gusty south-southwest winds will warm us up nicely into the low 60s or so with sun fading behind clouds later in the day. There may even be a shower or two late Sunday, but most of the day will be dry. So with that being said, Sunday looks to be the pick day of the weekend.

Early next week will likely remain very mild, before colder air tries to push in more aggressively later next week. We'll see.

Have a great day & enjoy the awesome weather WNY!
