Mild Today, but Not Tomorrow

Written by John DiPasquale:

Rains will continue to slowly build in from South-Southwest to North-Northeast this afternoon. Rain will become heavy at times, with possibly even an embedded t-storm later this afternoon & early tonight. The warmest readings 60 to 65 will be found across the Finger Lakes South & East of Rochester, while 55 to 60 should do it for Rochester & 50 to 55 West of town. Either way, everyone will be mild, breezy & turning wet.

Tonight the storm responsible for the developing rains will push through with it's cold front & the thermometer will showcase a more seasonable chill late tonight & especially tomorrow. Lows tonight will be near 40, & highs tomorrow with scattered rain & snow showers will hover within a few degrees of 40 through much of the day. Wind chills will be in the upper 20s to mid 30s! Bundle up tomorrow! A little slushy coating to an inch may accumulate in the hills tomorrow afternoon & early evening, but most will see little, if any, accumulation.

High pressure will build in from the West later tomorrow night into Thursday with some sun expected to shine here for all Thursday. Highs on Thursday will be seasonable chilly between 40 & 45.

A weakening cold front will swing through Friday with a couple rain &/or snow showers followed by a lot of sun later in the day. It will be brisk & chilly Friday with highs near 40.

The weekend looks good to start with a good deal of sun Saturday with highs in the low 40s. Sunday will likely feature more clouds & a stiff southerly breeze with a couple of rain showers possible late in the day with highs climbing toward 50!

After Sunday, though, it will likely turn much colder during the day Monday into especially Tuesday with a little lake snow possible. Stay tuned.

  1. Maybe I am off but looking at the models I think there needs to be an eye on the time frame from next Tuesday and Wednesday. It appears more cold air will be building and a possible strom. Just throwing it out there but I may be missing it.
