Sunny & Quiet

Written by John DiPasquale:

High pressure & sunshine will be with us for the rest of today. What you see is what you get. Temperatures will hit the low & perhaps a few mid 40s this afternoon.

A backdoor weak cold front will throw some clouds at us for late tonight & especially tomorrow, but no real weather is expected to occur with the front, as it should stall to the North.

The next weather maker will be a storm system expected to swing out of the Plains late Wednesday into Thursday with some wind, warmer temperatures & rain. Sorry snow lovers, another storm hooking to our West! The storm will drag a strong cold front through Thursday night with maybe a few snow showers & a bit of lake snow to follow late Thursday night into Friday as temperatures will turn more seasonable Friday into the weekend. This will be good news for the slopes, as at least they will be able to make some snow with the colder temperatures. Otherwise, at this time I do not see any significant snows in the foreseeable future. Christmas is still almost two weeks away so we do still have time & some hope to salvage a white Christmas, but we'll see. Time will tell.

Have a nice day WNY & enjoy the sunshine!

  1. Having a White Christmas is going to come down to the wire this year, and I am starting to get excited as the pattern shows signs of breaking down around Tuesday of next week!

  2. I'm guessing at LEAST 2 more weeks of roller coaster temperatures. I'm still going with a moderate storm for the Christmas Eve time frame.. with the +AO breaking down sometime shortly after. This year is reminding me of a winter we had in the mid 80's. 84-85 Warmth had people thinking winter would never show. Then in January came an arctic blast. Outside of that arctic blast though..that winter was not very memorable.
