Watching Wednesday

Written by: Stacey Pensgen

This last week of February will be an active one, with a series of storm systems affecting our weather.

We will be on the mild side of Monday's storm, with rain for us.

Precip type on Wednesday is up in the air at this point, but we could see a little bit of everything during the day. High pressure to our north and east may hold cold air in place long enough to bring a little bit of an icy mix to some of WNY before changing over to rain with warmer air working in. Of course what kind of precipitation we get is highly dependent on the exact track of the storm. Stay tuned!

  1. everyone had us in the 50's for wednesday now it is 43 with wintry mix. that just shows how fast stuff can change. pretty crazy. i still don't see them showing much of anything for friday still. either it is nothing or it is too early to pull the trigger on anything yet in the extended forecast

  2. Think it will be mostly rain for WNY that has been the pattern all winter. Also do not see anything developing of importance for next weekend. (sorry expert)

  3. I'm not totally buying into the total flip/flop in terms of temperatures, but I did lower Wednesday's temp a bit. There will be a rather tight temperature gradient setting up. It'll just depend on which side of that gradient we/you lie. Judging by how the winter has gone so far, I'd tend to lean toward the mild side, BUT that high to our NE may lock some of the colder air in place. That's my thinking right now. As I said before..stay tuned!

  7. THE NAM, EURO AND OTHER MEMBERS ARE COLDER WITH MORE FROZEN PRECIP THAN RAIN. THE GFS IS MUCH MILDER AND THE OUTLIER. LOOKS LIKE IT COULD BE A MODERATE TO HEAVY SNOWFALL FOR CENTRAL, NORTHERN AND EASTERN, NY BUT NOT FOR WESTERN,NY, IN MY HUMBLE OPINION. IT WILL PROBABLY BE MIX TO RAIN TO A LITTLE SNOW AT THE END FOR US. NBD.
