Some Wet Weather Moves in Later Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

Per weather data & futurecast some showers will arrive here later this afternoon with maybe even a rumble of thunder right into tonight.  Once the rain arrives later this afternoon, temps will cool from near 60 to the 40s & low 50s due to evaporative cooling.  The air over us early this afternoon is quite dry.  The culprit for the rain/storm is an area of low pressure & it's warm & cold front.  So after a wet & somewhat foggy night tonight, we should get rid of this storm & try to at least break up the clouds enough for some rays to shine through Tuesday afternoon.  Highs on Tuesday should make it well into the 60s with the help of that sun later in the day, after a gloomy, damp and somewhat foggy start.

The next system to affect us will be a warm front later in the day Wednesday with some clouds & a few showers & storms.  Behind the warm front, the heat & humidity should peak Thursday &/or Friday with a few pop up showers & storms likely both days, especially later Friday into Friday night thanks to a cold front.  Highs Wednesday should make the 70s, while 80s seem to be a pretty good bet for Thursday & Friday, as long as we have enough sunshine.  Either way, though, it will feel more like summer instead of spring to round out the week.

The weekend looks much cooler, but fairly nice at this point.  There may be a few leftover showers Saturday, but both days should feature some sun, especially Sunday.  Temperatures should cool out of the 70s & into the 60s, maybe the 50s over the weekend with a cooling breeze.  Stay tuned for changes through the week.

Have a good one WNY!

  1. So according to Scott's forecast monday night it was going to clear by tuesday afternoon and be 65.Yet as of 10 A.M WE ARE STILL IN THE LOW 50's,cold wet and not likely to get out of 50's all day.
I just wish the team you can trust would come up with a correct weather forecast and stop guessing at what the weather might do.

  2. So his forecast is wrong even before noon, right? If the sun comes out for a few this afternoon then we will get over 60 easily. John had today's high in the upper 60s at noon yesterday. Why aren't you beating him up? Let the day play out before you beat up the forecast.

  3. Ok now this person can beat me up. I'm issuing a personal apology that our inversion didn't mix out like I expected. This will happen to me 3-5 times each year. It's part of forecasting weather but I'm so sorry that things I have no control over didn't quite pan out as I had expected. I'll try again tonight and the next...
