Some Relief Arrives Friday Afternoon

Written by John DiPasquale:

After a mainly quiet, summery Thursday, a strong cold front will quickly move through Friday afternoon with scattered showers & storms, a few of which may get a little nasty.  Behind the front it will turn cooler, but remain warmer than average to kick off the long holiday weekend Saturday.  Highs today & Friday will be well into the 80s, & close to the record of 88 set back in 2007 Friday afternoon, but will likely not break it due to cold front passage.

High pressure will squeeze in from the north Saturday, & provide a nice & more comfy Saturday with highs in the 70s to around 80.  Late Saturday night into Sunday, Friday's cold front will be pushed back to the north as a warm front into the area.  This should lead to more clouds on Sunday & possibly a couple of showers & storms.  Temperatures should make the 70s to low 80s Sunday, but the warm front should be through late Sunday/Sunday night setting the stage for a steamy Memorial Day with a few pop up showers & storms probable.  With that being said, the best day of the weekend at this point appears to be Saturday, while Sunday & Monday will be decent you will want to keep an eye to the sky for that pop up shower/storm, especially on Memorial Day.  After a Memorial Day a strong cold front will blow through Tuesday with some showers & storms likely & a big temperature drop to follow for mid to late next week.  Stay tuned for updates regarding the all important holiday weekend forecast over the next few days.
