Pretty Nice Weekend on Tap

Written by John DiPasquale:

Feels great on this Friday afternoon thanks to an early morning cold front passage that delivered clouds & a bit of rain to start the day, but much of Friday will turn out to be very nice & much more comfy compared to the past few days.  Enjoy!

High pressure building in on this Friday from the west-northwest will keep us protected into much of the weekend, with Saturday likely being the pick day of the weekend.  Later Sunday into early to mid next week a pretty deep trough will take hold of the Northeast with a few showers/storm probably moving in Sunday afternoon & a couple of reinforcing shots of cool air with some additional pop up showers/storms Tuesday & Wednesday.  This will send highs out of the mid to upper 70s this weekend, & back into the upper 60s & low 70s Monday through Wednesday/Thursday!  What a difference a week makes!  Note, it does not look like one day next week will be a washout, and actually we should see breaks of sun mixed in there at times each day through the middle of the week.

Stay tuned for updates on the cooler weather pattern developing for the week ahead on News 8.  Enjoy the day & weekend WNY!

  1. Hope all of you are having a nice weekend out there. It was a GORGEOUS Saturday across the region, but unfortunately our Sunday will not be quite as nice as Saturday. Some sun to begin Sunday will tend to lose out to more clouds come the afternoon with a few scattered showers/storm possibly developing later in the day. Much of Sunday, though, will be dry with highs getting close to 80.

A strong cold front will blow through Sunday night with some showers/storm leaving a chunk of unseasonably cool air down at the ground & aloft. This will result in a gusty cool wind, highs not getting out of the 60s Monday with quite a few clouds around & a few scattered showers & storms popping up to kick off the week.

Tuesday will still be influenced by the upper level trough, so it will still be pretty windy & cool with a couple of pop up afternoon showers & storms possible. Tuesday as a whole should be a better day than Monday with highs getting back into the 70s.

Come Wednesday, the upper level trough should lose it's grip on us & allow high pressure to build in & provide a beauty for the midweek time frame.

The later half of the week will feature a warm up with a few scattered showers & storms possibly affecting the region later Thursday into Friday. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest updates regarding the changeable week ahead.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend WNY!
