EASTERN TROUGH DEVELOPS NEXT WEEK

Written By:  Scott Hetsko

For the first time this fall season, a deep Eastern trough will dig into the Northeastern part of the country early next week.  Cold air will pour South beginning this weekend and will be reinforced with a series of clipper storms next week.  I'd bet on widespread frost some night and also the likely-hood for the first accumulation of snow in the higher elevations sometime next week.

Once this set up establishes, I expect the pattern to be the rule into mid October.  Could it be a sign of the upcoming Winter?  No way to tell yet...

  1. In my non-meteorological experience living in Rochester, usually when it gets cold early the winter is mild. Look at last year. There was that BIG noreaster in October that we missed(SHOCKER)and then we had the mildest winter on record. We will see.

  4. Waiting to see what the Siberian snow cover does in October. Google 'Siberian snow cover and winter'. It would be just one clue.
