Great Today; Not so Much Wednesday

Written by John DiPasquale:

After the best day of the week today, Wednesday will end up being the worst day of the week with some rain developing & cooling temps later in the day.  We should have a midday high in the mid to perhaps upper 50s, before dropping off into the 40s to around 50 by day's end behind a potent cold front.

A disturbance will swing in later Thursday & early Thursday night with a few showers that may mix with a little snow/graupel.  The sun will return some for Friday with highs both Thursday & Friday only in the low 50s, maybe mid 50s Friday with the help of enough sun.

As far as the weekend goes, right now it looks pretty good with some sun & milder temperatures & it also appears that it may stay dry through the weekend too, which did not look to be the case yesterday.  This is great news for the Flower City Challenge this weekend!  Highs should make the 60s.  Stay tuned for updates throughout the week.

Overall pattern looks to remain on the cool side & unsettled at times right into at least the start of May.  Will it persist into the summer?  That's the big question.  I could definitely see it happening, especially if the persistent troughs here in the northeast continue with the upstream blocking over the North Atlantic.  It's showing no real signs of breaking down in the near future anyways.  We'll see...Scott, Stacey & I will have our thoughts on this in more detail next month on our summer weather special.  Stay tuned.

Enjoy the great day WNY!

  1. I hope everyone remembers this "full throttle sunshine" when it rains tomorrow. See how quick they forget.
