Warm & Muggy Through Wednesday then Changes...

Written by John DiPasquale:

Today there will be a scattering of showers & storms, with a few storms that do pop up possibly laying down some pretty heavy rain in a short amount of time that may cause a little flooding in spots, especially in the Finger Lakes.  The reason for the scattered rains/storms today & early tonight will be thanks to an upper air disturbance trickling through.

At this time, Wednesday looks pretty dry with just a few spotty showers & storms possibly popping The real warm & muggy air will be escorted out by the storm system depicted above with it's upper level associated trough & energy Thursday into Friday.  This will provide more numerous showers & storms for the last half of the week with possibly some flash flooding in spots, especially Thursday, as it will remain quite muggy Thursday, but start to dry some Friday & more so over the weekend.  Temperatures will go from well into the 80s Tuesday & Wednesday back into the low 80s Thursday, & near 80 Friday with a gusty cooling breeze on Friday expected on the backside of the storm depicted above.

Some lingering low level moisture & the upper level trough weakening, but stalled just to the east will cause the threat of a spotty shower/storm or two to be around Saturday afternoon & evening & Sunday, but both days right now look mainly dry with some sun & highs in the upper 70s to low 80s & less humidity, but still some, especially Saturday.  Outdoor plans this weekend, though, are not looking too bad if you are having an outdoor graduation party, golfing, swimming whatever you may have set up now.  Stay tuned for updates over the next few days as new information becomes available.

Have a great day & stay cool through Wednesday!

    1. Tell me about it. I made the supremely idiotic mistake of going into the woods behind my apartment yesterday without bug spray. Within three lousy minutes I was bitten no fewer than 13 times. Despite my constant movement and swatting of those little creeps I could not avoid getting torn up. Major props to the glorious individual who discovered aloe extract, without it I'd be itching like crazy right now.

What's really atrocious is the fact that we're in line for YET ANOTHER dose of substantial rain tomorrow into Friday. The NWS discussion is indicating up to 2 inches for the region during that time. I'm supremely thankful most of us have had the past week or so to dry off, otherwise I'd be sending for ark building supplies right now.
