More of an Autumn Feel on Tap

Written by John DiPasquale:

After the summery warmth & humidity of the last week or so broke late Monday/Monday night, we are in for a much cooler, more fall-like pattern for the foreseeable future with a couple of warm, summery days sprinkled in there.  Highs today under quite a few clouds & a few spotty showers will only make the low 70s, while a good deal of sun with high pressure will push readings into the mid 70s on our Wednesday.  However, later in the afternoon the clouds should build in pretty quickly with a shower or two possible near Lake Ontario toward sunset.  That late shower possibility tomorrow will be thanks to the approach of a strong backdoor cold front, due to pass through Wednesday night with some showers.  Behind the front, the coolest air of the season, since spring really, will blow in on a gusty north-northeast wind with a lake shower or two possible to start the day before some sun evolves for the afternoon.  Highs only will likely reach the low to mid 60s at best!!  High pressure will most likely then crest over the region Thursday night & early Friday, which should send readings down to 40 to 45 for most, but in the normally coolest spots south of the Thruway there may even be a few 30s with a touch of frost in those spots!  Warmest readings, 50s, will be found right near the Lake Ontario shoreline, which acts like a big heater in the fall with the initial cool shots of air.  Watch for those leaves to start changing over the next couple of weeks with the type of weather anticipated.

A good deal of sun will aid in warming us back to around or into the low 70s later Friday afternoon, which will feel great with not much wind either.  A warming southwest breeze will kick in some late Friday night, but especially Saturday & that with some sun will warm the air into the low 80s with a couple of showers & storms possible late in the day.  Much of Saturday right now, though looks pretty good & summery!  Yet another cold front though will likely then move through with a few more showers Saturday night/early Sunday & in it's wake it will turn cooler again with an early afternoon high in the low 70s, but likely falling back into the 60s later in the day with a cool breeze, as the official kickoff to the NFL football season, including the Bills, Giants & Jets, begins Sunday!  Stay tuned for updates on the cooler weather over the coming days & enjoy WNY!!
