Coldest Night of Season Tonight

Written by John DiPasquale:

After brisk start to the week with some sun we will see the growing season come to an end for most, if not all, late tonight & early Tuesday.  Lows under a mainly clear sky tonight will drop into the mid 20s for many, except low to mid 30s lakeside (Lake Ontario) thanks to the warmer lake waters.

Sunshine will fade some later Tuesday with highs only in the mid 40s, but a weak warm front will scoot through late Tuesday night/early Wednesday with a few rain/snow showers, which will likely be followed by intervals of sun and highs in the low 50s.  Early Halloween, a warm front will push through with some rain, and the remainder of the day will feature scattered spooky showers & howling, eerily mild, winds, as highs should make it into the 60s!  The Trick or Treat forecast looks nice n' mild, but will likely be damp at times & quite windy.  So have the umbrellas handy or something to protect the great costumes the kids are planning on donning when they head out.  Much colder air will return come the weekend with a little lake rain & snow likely behind a reinforcing cold front Saturday.  The first cold front is slated to move through Friday morning with some rain.  Stay tuned to News 8 for updates.

Have a great start to your week WNY!

  1. NAM and GFS indicating the potential for gusts of 50+ mph accompanying the rainfall on Thursday. One can only hope this holds off until after trick-or-treating.

  2. No BIG pattern change In the future towards snow and cold. I am hoping November turns out snowy like several years back when we picked up over 20 inches. It does not look likely though.

  3. The second half of November stands a better chance of turning snowy from what I've heard, but I agree that 20 inches for the month is unlikely at this point.

High Wind Watch now in effect from late Thursday night through Friday evening. Looks like the trick-or-treaters are going to cut it very close, with the best rain chances occurring just before and just after they're done, and the high winds not ramping up until Friday morning.

    1. Good with the wind coming later. The kids can get out, but then the wind will clear out the pain in the a@# teenagers and their overnight tricks

  4. Considering the November snowfall average is 6-7 inches, 20 would be highly rare.

  5. Sweet.. got a part of my roof and siding on one side of my house off. All covered by a tarp. It hasn't got a chance of staying on there.
