HEAT & STEAM FOR THE END OF THE WEEK

Written by: Brian Neudorff

It looks like more heat and steam will return later this week. It won't be like last week when we had 4 straight days of 90+ heat but we will see an an average high of around 85 or greater. Once the system passes Tuesday we will be in what is called a near zonal flow. Which is defined by the National Weather Service as a large-scale atmospheric flow in which the east-west component (i.e., latitudinal) is dominant. The accompanying meridional (north-south) component often is weaker than normal. Compare with meridional flow.

This flow will be north allowing for heat and steam to our south to flow in to the region. It won't be as hot but Thursday we could be close to 90 and remain very warm and humid through the end of the week and into the weekend. A cold front on Friday won't bring much relief but we could get some showers and storms.

  1. Feels like a good old fashioned summer.
Why don't you all report dew points? After the swell lesson on how it relates to humidity, I'd like to know how much steam to expect, daily.
Wad'ya know, Brian JUST reported dew points for today! Thank you
