BRRRRR! COLD THIS WEEKEND
Written by: Brian Neudorff
Thanks to a southern position of the jet stream a strong area of high pressure over the northern Great Lakes and Northern Plains we are going to have a below average weekend for high temperatures. Our average high is 46, I will consider ourselves lucky if we reach or pass 32 for a high this Sunday.
If there is one consolation with the cold is the weather will be fair. Skies should be mostly to partly sunny with a few isolated cases of flurries or light snow showers. If the sun won't warm the air at least it can warm our spirits.
A PERSONAL NOTE OF THANK YOU:
For 3 years I have had the honor to work with Rochester's "Most Accurate" & "Rochester's Best" meteorologist, Scott Hetsko. I have learned so much from him and the rest of the News 8 weather team. This is my last weather blog post as today is my last day with News 8. It has been great to see this blog grow and also see the participation from all of you. There are so many here in Rochester and western NY with such passion and knowledge of weather. Thank you for making my time here fun, entertaining and at times enlightened. This is not good-bye but see you later and as I turn the page I like to say I am entering the "To be continued" phase of my life.
Good luck in the future Brian! I'm sure you'll be spectacular where ever you end up. You kept this blog active and always gave us an update when we wanted one, so I would just like to say Thank You for being a damn good meteorologist!
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't know what everyone else thinks but next friday/saturday looks crazy?!
Brian,
ReplyDeleteVery sad to see you leave. You were one of the few meteorologists who showed a clear passion and understanding of our local weather. You dove into the complexities of lake effect in our region like the Pro that you are. I hope to see you on TV again in Rochester. But, wherever your journey takes you, I know you'll be a success.
On behalf of the Rochester community, Good luck, our friend!
good luck brian, where are you headed?
ReplyDeleteBrian,
ReplyDeleteWe enjoyed your expertise and energy each morning. I think "to be continued" is a great way of putting it. I'm sure you'll be back on the air in no time. The best of luck.
Good luck Brian! What is happeneing at news 8 lots of changes. Who will be doing the morning weather? Also weather guy what are you talking about next Friday/Saturday?
ReplyDeleteIs Brian working in other areas at the station like Bob? It is probably good for Brian he always seemed a bit thin skinned on the blog. Seemed like he took everything personally. Probably better he moves on to his next chapter. Good luck Brian maybe Stacey will be next and the station will be down to a one man show he does it all anyway that is why he is "Rochester's most accurate".
ReplyDeleteI disagree. I think Ch 8 has/had a well rounded weather team. Scott is not a one man show. I believe each contributed to the whole team. I wish Brian the best of luck. He contributed much to this blog. We weather nuts are very lucky to have this weather blog to share our thoughts and comments.
ReplyDeleteWhere are you going, Brian?-- We will miss you!!
ReplyDeleteWe trust that you will take your passion for communicating with us at a personal level-- where ever you go-- Communication is key to progress!
Sincerely,
Mack B
Best of luck Brian!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck as you turn your next page, Brian. I will miss you with my morning cup of coffee on the blog.
ReplyDeleteThank you all for all the comments. I will be around for now. Not sure where my next steps are but I feel they are soon. I am out there on facebook and twitter and I have a strong online presence so you can find me. I wish all of the best as well.
ReplyDeleteWe'll greatly miss Brian! He's been a dedicated member of my department and one of the most reliable employees I've ever had at News 8 since I began in late 1999. Tho whoever wrote that I'm the only guy who does anything is dead wrong. I appreciate the respect but my team is very important and contribute greatly to the success of our department.

I gotta admit, I'm shocked to hear that you're leaving, Brian. It would be great if you could stay in Rochester, but I wish you the best in wherever you end up. I agree with the other posts about you having your heart in it. Not to rip on other stations or anything, but a lot of other meteorolgists present the weather very dry. But you and Scott were a one of a kind team in Rochester. As a viewer, I could just tell that you guys know what you're talking about and actually love the weather rather than viewing it simply as a job. Other stations would be stupid not to hire you on the spot! We'll miss you waking us up each morning, Brian. Best of luck!!!

Although I only knew Brian for a short time, he was a fantastic, knowledgeable meteorologist, who loved his job. He was a hard worker, and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be missed in the News 8 Weather Center!
ReplyDeleteAnd like it or not, I plan on being around for quite a while to help Scott and the new morning meteorologist out!
Stacey
Where is weatherguy you said in an earlier post next Friday/Sat. looks crazy. What are you talking about and do you still think that it looks crazy? I am not sure what you are seeing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a bit concerned by what some other weather outlets on the internet are hinting around for the end of the week. Mr. Alarmist, Joe Bastardi at WeatherBell keeps talking of a big snowstorm somewhere in the northeast. He's even comparing it to the great March blizzard of 1993. Some of the guys at Accuweather have their eyes on this as well.
ReplyDeleteAny thoughts from the channel 8 team? I've learned that weather hype is what sells some of these internet weather sites so I often take what they say with a grain of salt.
Sal should know by now that whatever Bastardi says, it will probably be 50 percent of his prediction. There will be a coastal low developing Friday and Saturday. Could be significant snow maker East of us with some snow possible here. You know how I feel about storms that far out, stay tuned!
ReplyDeleteScott
NOTHING FOR US NEXT WEEK WAY EAST LIKE sCOTT HAS SAID. I THINK FINALLY WE ARE GOING TO GET INTO SPRING WEATHER AFTER NEXT WEEK. LET'S HOPE!
