Damp & Cool Pattern Persist

Well, the graphic on the left tells the story. Downstream ridge over the North Atlantic & Northeast Canada keeping storms moving east & away. Therefore, now that this slow, plague-like storm has found a comfortable spot across the Carolinas & Virginas it's not going to go anywhere soon & we will be under it's easterly influence through Thursday. Once later Thursday into Friday comes, the upper level & surface storm will weaken & shift a bit further east which will allow some drying & more significant warming to take place across our area by weeks end. Temperatures will slowly moderate out of the 40s & 50s today to seasonable levels in the upper 60s & low 70s by Friday. I also believe there will be enough drying in the lower levels of the atmosphere to permit some sun to shine for our TGIF!
Right now, Saturday looks like the best day of the next 7 with some sun & highs in the mid 70s. Another system will then try to move in & provide a little bit of damp weather to round out the weekend, but temperatures should stay nice & mild. Overall, though, I do not see any major changes to the pattern as a whole right into the start of June. Stay tuned.
Well, it doesn't quite get any worse than the last few days. The Lilac Festival is closed for the 3rd day. Fortunately, the festival goes right through this coming weekend, when the weather will be MUCH warmer and drier. I expect we'll see a mass exit of people from their homes to FINALLY enjoy some true springtime weather. I know i'll be one of them.
ReplyDeleteAnyone reading this blog, get out to that festival and support the Rochester community this weekend! We need to make up for our losses this week.

ReplyDeleteI live right by the lake. I see the temperatures are going to go up beginning tomorrow. Will this be like last week where the lakeshore struggles to get out of the 40's while it's near 70 inland?
Hi LakeShore, Unfortunately, I do believe you will not get nearly as warm as areas inland will over the next few days, but come Sunday into early next week that will change as enough of a southerly flow will likely develop to prevent the lake breeze/influences from happening. Temperatures will likely range from the upper 40s to mid 50s through Saturday.
