Quiet & Pleasant Today, but...
Written by John DiPasquale:
Enjoy today everyone because as you look to the left of this write up you can clearly see a big batch of unsettled & stormy weather across the Central Lower Lakes, Central Plains & Mid to Upper Mississippi River Valley. The storm system responsible for the unsettled weather the last couple days out there is on the move & will begin impacting us later today with some of its clouds. There is a 30% chance of a shower or two late today, but most of us should stay dry on this Wednesday. Later tonight there will be a much better chance of a scattering of showers & storms thanks to a warm front moves into & through late tonight/early tomorrow. Any storm late tonight through tomorrow night could become strong to severe so keep it here to News 8 for the latest regarding the severe weather potential. Behind the warm front tomorrow it will turn much warmer, muggy & breezy with highs reaching the low 80s, if not higher with more sun.
The storm system should sneak by us with some showers & a storm or two Friday, with temperatures cooling back into the low to mid 70s to round out the week.
A punch of dry air will try to move in Saturday with some sun & just a passing shower/storm, & on Sunday another warm front will attempt to pass through with a few showers & storms possible. We could be well into the 80s with a lot more humidity, a gusty breeze & limited sun Sunday. On Memorial Day, while we remember the men & women we lost the weather looks like it could very well be summery with highs in the 80s & just a couple of scattered showers & storms around with a weak backdoor cold front. This could be real good unofficial start of the summer season for all you that own a boat &/or pool. Tune into News 8 for the latest in the coming days...
Are you seeing signs of a major pattern change that will get us into a more summer-like pattern with several days of sunny weather, unlike what we have seen these past few months were we get just a day or two a week of sunny weather?
ReplyDeleteNot to scare anybody, but according to the SPC, there is a slight...emphasis on the word "slight" risk for supercells capable of producing tornados tomorrow. From a severe thunderstorm threat to heat and humidity. Summer is here!
ReplyDeleteHi Sal & RocWXStudent, It does appear that at least temporarily there will be an overall shift to drier & warmer weather this weekend through the first half of next week, but beyond that there is still some question. We definitely could use a nice dry, warm stretch. I see the SPC put us in the slight risk box for severe t-storms (supercells) late tonight into tomorrow. Could be a busy day tomorrow. Latest guidance is actually suggesting late tonight through the first half tomorrow morning with warm front, & then again later tomorrow afternoon into the evening ahead of surface storm & cold front would be the best shot of most widespread t-storms & severe weather. We'll see how it plays out. Should be interesting... John DiPasquale
