Stubborn Low Persists Today, but...
Written by John DiPasquale:
Believe it or not, but after about a week of dealing with the same painfully slow moving storm system & it's unpleasant affects we will finally shake it for the most part Saturday! Good riddance!! Low pressure across the northeastern part of Pennsylvania today will slowly give way to weak high pressure in the Central Lakes later tonight into our Saturday. This will mean any scattered showers/storms we see today will essentially be gone tomorrow. Although, the combination of some lingering low level moisture & heating of the day could scare up one or two passing showers in a few spots tomorrow, especially in the afternoon. Overall though it will be a dry & pleasant Saturday. Get out & enjoy it!
Sunday will feature more in the way of clouds developing & a few showers/storm developing with a warm front. Behind the warm front, it will turn a bit warmer & more muggy with a scattering of showers & storms around Monday through at least Wednesday/Thursday. Neither one of those days next week should be a washout, but will likely consists of keeping an eye to the sky to stay dry if you are going to be out & about. Temperatures will primarily be in the 70s over the next several days to come after today.
Have a great day & weekend everyone WNY!
TGIF, everyone. I have a question about Saturday. I see 70's in the forecast for tomorrow, but how much of an impact will that lake breeze have? I live in Irondequoit near ridge rd. Will I be able to bust out with the short sleeves and shorts tomorrow? Or will I have to travel to Henrietta for the real warmth?
ReplyDeleteGreat question! I would expect you to only reach the middle 60s along ridge road tomorrow afternoon. I expect a North lake breeze to kick in around lunchtime and there won't be a strong South wind to beat it back onshore!

Thanks, Scott. I've lived on the north side for years but it sure seems like its been chillier up here alot more than usual. dont know if its because the lake is colder than usual or what. anyway enjoy the weekend. sounds like it will be beautiful tomorrow. maybe i'll squeeze in a final trip to the lilac festival. the vendors could use our business after such a crummy early week.
ReplyDeleteScott,
ReplyDeleteJust how wet do you think next week will be? The NWS seems to be painting a rather dreary picture for what they say could be a very wet week with heavy rains...something we just don't need. Your thoughts please.
Speaking of golfers, I heard a funny weather related remark about the golfing conditions this spring. I guy remarked that he had to hire life guards for the golf course. Get it? because it's so rainy? Okay lame joke but just though id share.
ReplyDeleteSal I think the potential is there for a 1-3" amount of rainfall from Monday-Thursday. How much we get really depends upon where the stationary front ends up.

This spring bites. I cannot remember ever seeing so much rain. Next week looks terrible again. I think this is the way our summer will go or lack thereof.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the summer, but it sounds like we're going to have to kill ourselves today to get yard work done as next week does not sound very pleasant at all. With Scott saying 1 to 3 more inches of rain by the end of the week, it's going to be next to impossible to get anything done. Better cut the grass real short today. I wonder if I'll ever be able to get in my vegetable garden!?
ReplyDeleteNot sure if anyone can give me some insight. But I am looking for a quick weather prediction for Pittsburgh. I am heading there on Wed for a Pirates vs Braves game and would love to know the chance of rain.
ReplyDeleteGilbert,
ReplyDeleteA front will lift well north of the Pittsburgh area on Wednesday, putting that area in the warm and muggy zone. As of right now, it looks like upper 70's are a good bet in Pittsburgh on Wednesday, with a chance for showers or thundershowers very early in the morning, and a very slight chance of thundershowers again during the afternoon. But those will be spotty and shouldn't last for longer than 15 to 20 minutes before the sun tries to come back out. All in all, the majority of the day looks dry and partly sunny. I would place the chance of rain that day at only 30 to 40 percent in any given location. Nothing widespread. Dress for warm weather, as it will be quite humid and will likely feel like mid summer. But carry an umbrella just in case.
