HOW DRY WE ARE...
Written By: Scott Hetsko
The last day of Spring has been perfect again but as Summer begins the weather turns too. A warm front will approach and then stall over the area from Wednesday through Friday. As a result, frequent showers and storms will be over our region during that period. We could use the rain, we currently rank 2nd driest all time for the month of June with only 0.25" of rain since the beginning of the month.
Scott,
ReplyDeleteDo you think this dry pattern will begin to be a trend for the rest of the summer? Also, do you think we'll see any heat waves this summer? So far, the pattern doesn't want to keep us hot (90+) for more than a day at a time, despite the excessive heat across the nations heartland. Those canadian air masses keep racing in just as the real heat gets here. We need a strong bermuda high!
I'm afraid once it starts raining, it won't stop again, and we get into another prolonged wet period.
ReplyDeleteYes I do think we'll get a period or two of prolonged hot weather. I still believe our hottest months will be July-August. Jetstream should move further North in mid Summer.

Thanks, Scott. By the way, do you think the winter of 2011-12 will be a wild one with lots of snow?
ReplyDeleteP.S. Feel free to scold me for asking you about the winter in June LOL.
OMG!!!! SummerFan...no way I even think about Winter until late September :)
ReplyDeleteScott
haha, that's a reasonable response, Scott. Late September is fair....at which time I return to the name "SnowFan".
ReplyDeleteThat's strange, Summer/WinterFan, I was gonna through a question out there about winter tonight myself. I am glad you took the abuse so I didn't have to!
ReplyDeleteOops I mean Summer/SnowFan. Sorry.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's pretty much a given that any meteorologist will give you a friendly scolding if you ask about a winter outlook in the middle of June....Unless you're Joe Bastardi over at WeatherBell. He's probably working on the winter outlook for 2015 by now. I'm still looking forward to some REAL summer heat before winter, though. Heat waves are fun to track the temperature. It's cool to see how hot the temperatures gets so early in the mornings on those days. 85 degrees at 9 o'clock in the morning makes me feel like we live in Miami, Fl.
ReplyDeleteBTW, Scott will you be attending that big AMS conference in Oklahoma City this week?
I hate to say it, but we actually need some rain. The grass is getting brown.
