A Pretty Nice Friday

Written by John DiPasquale:

After a quiet morning, there will be a few spotty showers/storm popping this midday & afternoon, but they should be widely scattered. The most widespread & significant shower/storm activity will be found today across the central & especially the eastern part of the state closest to the culprit, an upper level storm. This upper level low will slide away slowly later today & especially tonight, which will allow for a pleasant, comfortable night. There will likely be a few areas of fog developing tonight, but overall it will be nice & quiet.

This weekend is still shaping up pretty good, but it does appear that it will turn cloudier late Saturday night into a decent chunk of Sunday due to a storm passing by to the south closer than originally thought. At this point, though, it will be a dry weekend with just a very slight risk for a pop up shower Saturday & a slightly better chance late Saturday night into Sunday morning, especially south of the Rochester area. Now, if the storm system takes more of a northerly track than current projections are suggesting, Father's Day could turn out to be gloomier, wetter & much cooler day. Stay tuned through the weekend for the latest with meteorologist Stacey Pensgen.

We will feel a warmup next week, especially once we officially kick off the summer season at 1:16PM Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday. Humidity levels will also increase, but rain chances will likely remain quite low through midweek for the midweek. Temperatures should be mainly in the 80s much of next week.

Have a great Friday & weekend all! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE DAD'S OUT THERE!!
