Record Heat possible Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

Up, up & away! That's what the temperatures are doing today. The temperature map to the right is displaying 11am temperatures! That's right. Only a few degrees away from 90 already! Today will surely be the second 90+ degree day here in Rochester officially, with the record high of 92 possibly crashing down. Highs will range from 90 to 95 for most, with abundant sun & a hot breeze.

Tonight will be warm & clammy, tropical, with a shower/storm possible late. Lows tonight will be in the low to mid 70s. On our Thursday, though, a strong cold front will come through during the midday with some showers & storms, a few of which could become strong to severe. Behind the cold front it will turn much more comfy tomorrow night into Friday. Lows will drop into the 50s to around 60 by early Friday, & hit the mid 70s for highs Friday.

Another system will make a run at us Saturday with some showers & a storm or two developing, but we will try to clear it out some on Sunday with more in the way of sun to finish out the weekend. Highs will range from the mid 70s to around 80.

Have a great day WNY & attempt to stay cool & hydrated!

  1. In Lyons, Wayne County @ 3:15 it was 95F.

  2. There's a WNW lake breeze blowing here on the lakeshore, but it is being overpowered by the hot, southerly wind. Minimal effect on lakeshore temps as it is in the upper 80s here in Sodus Point.

  3. Yes, the general flow was strong enough yesterday to prevent lake breeze from developing. More comfortable air is now blowing in from the west northwest. Enjoy!
