SUNSHINE IS BORING!

Written By: Scott Hetsko

I'm falling asleep at my desk this afternoon. The weather is perfect and that pattern will pretty much continue through the 4th of July. Strong high pressure is perched over the region which will act to deflect all moisture away from the area through most of the weekend. A weak warm front will spark an afternoon thunderstorm for a few on Saturday. Otherwise, smooth sailing into a brand new month. June will end with a measly 1.45" of rain. Most of that fell on the 22nd (0.94")! By contrast, last June we recorded 5.94" of rain making it the 10th wettest all time.

  1. Scott,
So is it fair to assume that being a Meteorologist in San Diego or Los Angeles wouldn't be your thing?

BTW, I also think that 70's are boring. Tracking 90 degree days in Rochester is fun. I love when it's like 89F at KROC at Noon! High dewpoints are fun too....it feels like we live in Florida when dewpoints are 70+

  2. Hey Scott, I am confused. I just read the NWS forecast discussion for Saturday night and they are talking about flooding rain. What is up with that? They state there could be training thunderstorms. Can you comment on that? I trust you more than them.

  3. The NWS is STILL talking about heavy rains for the region on Sat. night.
This from their site at mid morning today (7/1)
    Thoughts on this?

  5. I'm thinking they're talking about any storms that develop will likely have downpours - not that we will see a widespread rain event. With a lot of moisture in the air tomorrow, heavy rain is always a good possibility in storms. We do have the chance of a few storms in our forecast for later in the day Saturday. Otherwise, enjoy the nice weather and the weekend!
