Make That Two!

Written by: Stacey Pensgen

The weather last year for July 4th was ideal: a high of 87 with a partly cloudy sky. This year should be just a nice for those picnics, BBQs and fireworks displays! We will see TONS of sun, along with temperatures in the low to mid 80s and comfortable humidity levels. What a great birthday present for the good ol' U.S. of A. from Mother Nature! Happy 4th of July from all of us at News 8 Weather. Celebrate safely!

  1. Question on drought. When considering drought do they look long term or short term. Here in Gananda we only had .50 inches of rain in July. All the lawns are brown. We are about 3 inches below normal since June 1. The airport is over 2 inches below normal since June 1. Short term we are in a drought. Long term we are still just under 3 inches above normal in rain fall.

  2. Drought? After that winter and spring there is so much water in the ground it isn't funny. My sump is still running and the wheels on my mower are still wet as water continues to come up from below. Finally the grass is starting to go dormant in spots--thankfully, that twice a week mowing was relentless. Keep the dry coming!!!
