EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING NOON - 7PM
Written by John DiPasquale:
Today will be the worst day of this heat wave as temperatures are skyrocketing into the 90s as I type! The map displayed on the left are the feel like temperatures, heat index, at 9 o'clock this morning! Crazy, dangerous heat & humidity out there today, especially late this morning through the early evening. For that reason, the National Weather Service has an Excessive Heat Warning in effect for much of Western & Central New York from noon through 7 or 8 this evening. The air temperatures for many will range from 95 to 100, & the feel like readings will be between 105 & 110!! Yes, it feels like a sauna out there! Do what you can to stay cool & hydrated, especially if you have to be outside for your job. Be sure to check on the elderly, very young, those who have respiratory problems & the pets.
Later today into this evening there will be a slight risk for a pop up storm or two in advance of a weak "cool" front, which should come through later tonight. Behind the front it will be SLIGHTLY cooler & less humid for Friday, but overall remain quite steamy & uncomfortable with lots of sun.
The weekend now appears to be getting more comfy! A backdoor cold front is thinking about sneaking through later Saturday & if it does actually cross the area we will experience somewhat cooler temperatures Saturday, especially later in the day, while Sunday looks great with tons of sun & seasonably cool readings & a nice breeze!
Early to mid next week should remain pretty seasonable with a slight risk for a storm or two later Monday. It looks like there will be a better chance of seeing a few showers & storms Monday night into Tuesday as a cold front pushes through. Overall, though, the pattern still looks mainly dry for the next week or two to come.
Stay cool & be safe out there today WNY!
hmmm weather = hot hot hot hot hot tooooooooo hot!!!!!!
