Heat Builds this Weekend

Written by John DiPasquale:

Today will be comfortably warm, but after today the humidity levels will begin to creep up & so too will the temperatures. So enjoy the comfort today, because it certainly will become less comfy over the weekend, especially come Sunday.

High pressure overhead today will provide almost a cloudless sky, but during the weekend the area of high pressure will drift to the east which will lead to a west southwest hotter & more humid flow. After the low to mid 80s today, we will hit the mid to upper 80s tomorrow & then around 90 on Sunday with higher humidity levels building in all the while.

Rain chances over the weekend will be very low both days, with a 10% chance for a late day shower/storm tomorrow & a 20 to 30% chance of an isolated PM storm or two. So if you have outdoor beach &/or pool plans don't worry about those slight chances of a storm, because most of us will not see anything.

Come Monday there will be a little bit better of a chance of experiencing a few scattered showers & storms with a backdoor cold front. Otherwise, the chances of receiving any significant rains are basically zero through much, if not all, of next week.

After a bit of a cool down possibly later Monday into Tuesday there are many signs that the core of the heat across the central part of the country will make a serious run at the northeast for late next week & weekend. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest details in the coming days.

Have a great weekend & stay cool everyone!

  1. Thanks John. You do a great job updating this site. You all do. That is not good news about the rain, but I am enjoying this sun. Eventually the tide will turn and it will be rainy again. Droughts or dry spells do not last long around here.

  4. Yes Weatherdan. We could definitely use a lot more than 0.13, but I guess it's better than nothing. It's quiet & sunny upwind of us right now, but further upwind there are a few showers racing southeast bound. I would expect with the backdoor cold front in the vicinity & some sun heating up the atmosphere, we should pop a few more showers & storms later this afternoon & evening. Any storm that does pop later today could pack a punch. We'll see. Stay tuned & stay cool this week WNY!
