Terrific Thursday!

Written by John DiPasquale:

What you see on the Skyeye is what you get through this Thursday! Enjoy it, & remember the sunscreen.

High pressure slowly building in from the north & west will provide the gorgeous weather today & keep us mainly dry right through the weekend. Highs today will be in the low 80s for most, but cooler 70s will be felt along & near the lake shore.

The temperatures will turn a bit cool later tonight due to the dryness, clear sky & lack of wind, as we fall back into the low to mid 50s under a ton of moonlight.

Your Friday will feature more sun & warmer temperatures, with highs getting into the low to mid 80s.

High pressure still looks like it's going to slowly drift to the east this weekend, which will lead to a west-southwest flow of increasingly hot & humid air. Highs on Saturday will likely make the mid to upper 80s, while around 90 should do it for the tail end of the weekend. There's a slight risk for a pop up shower/storm late Saturday, & a slightly better chance Sunday, but most of the weekend will be dry. This is great news for your pool/beach plans, but not so for the lawns & crops in the area.

More high heat & humidity looks to be on tap for the first half of next week too, with maybe a few scattered storms to boot.

  1. Got back from vacation and didn't have to mow the lawn!!! How rare is that? It's like an extended vacation.

  2. The NWS is talking about 90's by next Thursday, friday. You guys only ahve it in the mid 80's. Just curious. They are also talking about possible MCS systems for Monday night and Tuesday which could give us rain. Do you see this as well.

  3. It's far, far away weatherdan. The EURO brings back the heat late week so I find it's much more reliable. Also any MCC's would disrupt the heat on any given afternoon. 90's are possible, even likely but too soon to tell.

  4. Don't MCC's tend to be nocturnal?

  5. THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE CAME OUT WITH THE NEW DROUGH INDEX AND THEY DO NOT HAVE WESTERN NY IN ABNORMALLY DRY. WHAT ARE THEY MISSING? MOST AREAS IN ROCHESTER HAS SEEN LESS THAN AN 1.5 INCHES FOR ALL OF JUNE AND JULY. MY AREA IN GANANDA HAS SEEN LESS THAN AN INCH. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND.
