A Little Needed Rain for Some Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

I bet 6 weeks ago you never thought some of us would be doing a rain dance in WNY, but in fact this is the case after the very dry June & early July stretch. It appears that a slow moving, weak cold front will provide a little rain for some of us as it moves through this afternoon & early evening. There likely will be just a few scattered showers & storms with the front as it crosses, & some of us will most likely stay totally dry through today. Temperatures will warm into the mid 80s with more humidity this afternoon.

Once the cold front has passed the air will slowly dry out & cool off tonight into our Thursday. You can expect a lot of sun, a nice breeze with cooler & less humid conditions to be with us tomorrow. Highs will be within a couple of degrees of 80.

Moisture will slowly try to work to the north ahead of a developing area of low pressure near the Carolinas & Virgina on Friday. This may produce a couple of pop up showers/storms mainly south of the Rochester area later Friday, but for the most part much of the area should stay dry to end the week. Highs Friday will be in the low to mid 80s, except 70s along & near lake shore.

The weekend looks like it will be dominated by high pressure. Wow! Another great summer weekend appears to be in store! Sunshine & temperatures climbing into the low to mid 80s Saturday & mid to upper 80s with a bit more humidity to round out the weekend. Stay tuned.
