Rain, Heavy at Times, for Most Today!

Written by John DiPasquale:

You can thank an area of low pressure with it's warm front & a cold front trailing it for the roughly half an inch to 2+ inches of rain that WNY will receive by 2 or 3 this afternoon. Some drying will take place behind the cold front late this afternoon & evening which should allow the sun to shine to finish out your Friday. Temperatures should reach the low 80s with the late day sun, but could go a little higher if the sun comes out a little earlier than 5 or 6 or fall short of 80 again if it doesn't make an appearance until a bit later. It will be very humid today too with dew points in the low 70s! Yuck!

Tonight high pressure will build in from the west cooling us back into the 60s & lower the dew points back into the upper 50s to low 60s by sunrise tomorrow. Saturday will be gorgeous, as high pressure will drift overhead & stick around for Sunday too. You can expect a good deal of sun both Saturday & Sunday with highs in the low to mid 80s tomorrow, but mid to upper 80s Sunday with a bit more humidity to end the weekend.

Next week will begin with some clouds & possibly a passing shower/storm or two, as a weak cold front slides across the region. Overall, though, Monday looks good with a decent amount of sun & fairly comfortable temperatures. We will stay warm through most, if not all, of next week with highs well into the 80s & little, if any rain. So after today's rains, there's not much water expected to fall from the sky again for awhile.

Have a great day & weekend all!!
