Sunny & Warm Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

Well, we will begin August just the way much of July was...Sunny, warm & muggy. There will be a nice breeze today, though, plus humidity levels will slowly come down during the afternoon in the wake of a cool front. Enjoy it everyone!

High pressure will build in later today & hang out with us through much of tomorrow. This will mean a more comfortable night of sleeping tonight & a pleasant Tuesday on tap with sun fading behind some clouds later in the day in advance of the next system to flirt with us. Highs on Tuesday will be in the low to mid 80s with lower humidity levels, so it will definitely feel a bit more refreshing tomorrow compared to today.

The clouds entering the sky later in the day tomorrow will be in response to a storm system moving along a warm front. This storm will most likely slide to the south & southwest of the area late tomorrow night. Yes, it does appear we will see at least some clouds from the system, but the big question is will we pick up some rain too? At this point, it appears that most, if not all, of the rain will slide to the south & west of the area, but it's going to be very close. Stay tuned throughout the rest of today & tonight & again tomorrow for the latest on the chances of rain come tomorrow night here in Rochester & WNY.

Rain or not Tuesday night & early Wednesday, we will be cooler Wednesday with a northeast flow in the wake of the system with some sun developing. Highs Wednesday will be in the upper 70s to around 80.

High pressure should supply a nice summery day Thursday with sun & highs in the mid 80s, while there will likely be a bit more cloud cover blending with the sun Friday, along with more humidity & a slight risk for a shower/storm later in the day. Highs to end the week should make the mid & upper 80s.

At this early juncture, the weekend is looking quite unsettled, especially Saturday with some showers & storms & a lingering shower/storm Sunday possible. As of now Sunday looks to be the pick day of the weekend. Still looks like this weekend into next week the pattern will be changing for the cooler & wetter. Stay tuned throughout the week to get the latest changes regarding the weekend outlook as we update the forecast with the newest data in the coming days.

  2. Yup--I said that two weeks ago. Why wish for rain at this time of year when we have such an awesome streak going? It's gonna happen and when it does we'll be swimming in it and mowing wet grass 2X per week.
