A Touch Cooler Today

Written by John DiPasquale:

Ok. It's a little better out there on this Friday compared to yesterday, but still it's quite toasty & muggy. The temperature map on the left is from 9am this morning & it is a few degrees cooler than the same time yesterday. The weak cool front has definitely made it's impact & you will feel a little bit more comfortable when outside today compared to our Thursday. Highs today will range from 90 to 95, with the heat index expected to be in the mid to upper 90s. We will also have a pretty good amount of sun today too.

Tonight will be another tropical one, which will be followed by some sun & a slight risk of a passing storm or two thanks to a backdoor cold front. The front is slated to cross the area sometime during the afternoon/early tomorrow night. After the front passes, the 90+ degree heat will be gone for a little while anyways. Highs on Saturday will be up around 90, but in the wake of the cold front we will feel temperatures drop back into the 60s late Saturday night into early Sunday, & only recover into the low 80s for Sunday afternoon with lower humidity levels!

So yes, Sunday appears to be the pick day of the weekend as far as comfort goes & we will also experience some more sun blending with clouds. Enjoy!

The next more significant chance of getting wet around here will come about late Sunday night into Monday, when a cold front moves in & through. At this point, it appears the showers & storms will be somewhat more widespread, but it still does not look like a real soaking which is what we need so badly. Temperatures for the early to mid part of next week look to be more seasonable low to mid 80s & other than Monday much, if not the whole, week will be mainly dry.

Have a great day & weekend all! Stay cool everyone!

  9. Yes! At least most of the area has had at least a little bit of rain over the last few days, but unfortunately not a lot for most, especially in the Greater Rochester area. The risk for rain from here on out today will be diving south & east of the Rochester area. Next chance of some rain & storms will be Thursday. Fingers crossed. Enjoy the more comfortable air in the meantime everyone!
