A Few Pop Up Storms
Written by John DiPasquale:
A disturbance and a cold front will swing through this afternoon & set off a few scattered showers & storms, a couple of which could become strong to severe. The main concern with any storm that develops today will be strong damaging winds & large hail. There will also be the potential for a waterspout or two over Lake Ontario this afternoon &/or tonight. Highs today will reach the mid to upper 70s.
Behind the cold front, the air will dry out & cool off a bit for our Thursday with a pretty good deal of sun & a refreshing breeze. Highs on Thursday will be in the mid 70s.
Friday will remain nice with high pressure slowly sliding to the east. Daytime heating and a bit more humidity & a little upper level energy MAY be enough to scare up an odd shower/storm late in the day Friday, but most of us will stay dry to end the week.
The weekend as of now doesn't look too bad Saturday with intervals of sun & just a slight risk for a shower/storm or two later in the day, as an area of low pressure at the surface & aloft slowly approaches from the south & west.
Tail end of the weekend still looks breezy, wet & cool as low pressure slides by just to the south & east of the area, but if the storm track changes so too will the forecast for Sunday. Rainy or not Sunday, early to mid next week looks great with sun & pleasant temperatures.
Have a great day WNY!
