A Few Sct. PM Storms Today
Written by John DiPasquale:
Lots of sun this morning will be replaced by a blend of clouds & sun this afternoon as a cold front approaches & ultimately passes through late today/early this evening. There will also be a few scattered showers & storms likely developing out ahead & with the cold front this afternoon & early evening across WNY. A couple of these storms may become strong to severe with damaging wind gusts & large hail. Stay tuned for updates to News 8 and Rochesterhompage.net to find out if any storms turn severe later today &/or early tonight.
Behind the cold front it will turn much cooler & less humid, as lows drop into the 50 to 55 degree range by early tomorrow. A little bubble of high pressure will build in late tonight & for most of Wednesday providing the area with a good amount of sun to get over the hump. It will be breezy & much cooler tomorrow with highs near 70.
Late Wednesday night & early Thursday yet another strong cold front will sneak through with some showers. A bit of rain will probably linger into Thursday too, as a blustery northerly wind will develop in the wake of the cold front for our Thursday. Temperatures, with the brisk wind & a little rain through the midday will struggle to make the mid & upper 50s! Yes, Thursday looks down right chilly & possibly damp, especially during the first part of the day.
A strong, large area of Canadian high pressure should then build in Thursday night through at least the start of next week! This may mean patchy frost for some away from the lakes Friday & Saturday mornings with lows in the 30s & low 40s, but day time highs should be up near 60 Friday, & slowly rising through the 60s over the weekend with tons of sun Friday through at least Sunday. So yes, it looks crisp & cool Friday through Sunday, but at least we will have lots of still strong mid September, officially summer, sun shinning & little wind, which will make it feel milder. Get the blankets, jackets, sweaters, sweatshirts & fire logs ready to go! A real taste of mid fall weather is on the way!
Enjoy the summery weather today everyone!
