Warm through Tuesday
Written by John DiPasquale:
A weakening trough from the remnants of Lee combined with some lingering low level moisture & daytime heating will likely spark a few widely scattered showers & storms this afternoon & early tonight. Most of us, though, will stay dry through this Monday with a decent amount of sun throughout the day. It will be milder today compared to this past weekend with highs in the mid to upper 70s.
After a mainly quiet & mild night tonight, the first of two strong cold fronts will be approaching. I do believe there will be a good amount of dry time Tuesday for us all, but come the late morning through the mid evening there will be a few scattered showers & storms developing & moving through ahead & with the cold front. Any storm that develops tomorrow will have the potential to be strong to severe with damaging winds & large hail. We'll keep you posted here on News 8. The cold front itself should cross the area late in the day, but before that occurs highs on Tuesday should reach up to around 80, with a gusty, warm southwest wind! Enjoy the taste of summer today & tomorrow, because the bottom will begin to fall out Wednesday & especially Thursday & Friday.
A reinforcing shot of cold air coming in out of Canada will make it's presence felt with some clouds & a shower or two possible late Wednesday & Wednesday night. In the wake of the reinfocing shot of colder air, there could very well be a lake shower or two coming in off the big lake Thursday. Combine some clouds, a brisk wind & a possible lake shower or two, & it's going to feel like to mid to late Fall instead of very late summer around here. Highs on Thursday will likely not get out of the mid & upper 50s!
By Friday the winds will settle, but boy will it still be unseasonably chilly with highs, despite a lot of sun, struggling to hit 60! Also, to note, I cannot even rule out some FROST away from the lakes Friday, Saturday & possibly Sunday mornings, as strong, chilly high pressure crest over the region!! Thankfully, there will most likely be lots of sun Friday, Saturday & Sunday which will make it feel better & slowly moderate the daytime highs well into the 60s by the time Sunday rolls around. Stay tuned to News 8 for updates throughout the week on the big cool down & the frost potential.
Have a great Monday WNY!
Here's another time when local birders are interested in winds along the lake. Northerly winds will take over...Wednesday? And will persist through...Friday?
ReplyDeleteHi Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteNortherly winds will take over late Wednesday night into the start of Friday. Winds should turn quite light Friday, as high pressure settles overhead. Enjoy the big cool down on the way!
Thank you! I'll enjoy Thursday on the lake looking for (and hopefully watching!) migrating birds.
ReplyDeleteHello Anonymous,
ReplyDeleteWe actually should continue to have a northerly component to the wind through Friday the way it looks now. High will likely not crest overhead until later Friday night into Saturday. Enjoy!
