A Little Bit of Rainfall on the Way

Written by John DiPasquale:

Welcome to fall everyone! Fall officially arrived at 5:04 this morning across the Northern Hemisphere. The first day of fall will be not too bad with some sun this morning fading away for the afternoon, as moisture surges north ahead of a big, intense upper level storm near Chicago. There will also be a weak area of low pressure at the surface that will track to the west of us late today & tonight across Lake Erie. Yes, we should at least pick up a scattering of showers/storm developing this afternoon, with a few lingering tonight. The lion share of the rain, though, should end up out near Buffalo & Niagra Falls, & in portions of Central & Eastern New York where they don't need it. Some of the newest data is now suggesting that there's the potential of drier air building in later in the day Saturday & especially Saturday night into Sunday. Some of the data is suggesting that the upper level storm near Chicago currently could very well retrograde a bit to the south & west further away from us. If this were to play out, we would contend with a few spotty showers/storm Saturday, but not much rain at all &, if your lucky, there MAY be some brightening or even a ray or two of sun poking through the clouds to end our Saturday. Partial clearing will try to occur later tomorrow night with areas of fog, & come Sunday it would become pretty nice after a slow start with some sun developing & just a couple of spotty showers/storm popping up for the afternoon. Highs over the weekend will likely be close to 70 Saturday & mid 70s on Sunday.

Next week will probably start off mild with a few scattered showers/storm around, but will likely turn much cooler by Tuesday &/or Wednesday with the upper level storm finally beginning to move overhead & weakening. By next Thursday/Friday we should be rid of stubborn, lost storm which should lead to some better weather to finish out September.

Have a great Friday & first weekend of autumn WNY!

  1. Damp and muggy, perfect weather for FLEAS! I'm thinking the weather is exacerbating a situation in which my dog and cat keep bringing more fleas in the house - even though I've applied medication that's supposed to kill any fleas that latch on.
