Seasonable Today, but Not this Weekend
Written by John DiPasquale:
After almost an inch & a half of rain from Tuesday evening through early this morning in Rochester, we will likely have to contend with a few more showers & storms today. A couple of the storms that do develop this afternoon may pack a punch with torrential rains, some hail & wind. The culprit for the showers & storms today will be that upper level storm that was sitting out near Chicago for almost a week! This storm will cross the area later today & early tonight. Once it passes, we will see another round of a few showers/storm late tonight/early Friday with a weak cold front. After a few early showers around to start our Friday, we should get some breaks of sun out for a little while later tomorrow morning into the early afternoon before a lot more clouds roll in during the afternoon. Those clouds will be in advance of a strong cold front due to sneak through Friday night with a few showers possible late Friday & into Friday night.
On Saturday, an area of low pressure, nor'easter, will likely take shape near NYC & pivot into Eastern NY/Western New England Saturday night into Sunday. This will ensure us of a blustery, raw weekend with highs in the upper 40s to around 50! Wind chills will reside in the 30s to low 40s, & believe it or not but there's a distinct chance for some ice pellets/graupel to mix in with the showers, especially over the high terrain south of the thruway. Sorry everyone, but this is just mother nature's reminder to us all that even though we are just starting October this weekend, ole man winter is just right around the corner.
Come Monday, the weather will get better with some sun & more seasonable temperatures returning. Next Tuesday through Thursday's weather is hinging on a backdoor cold front. If it gets through, which is what a lot of our data is now suggesting will happen we will turn pretty chilly again during the period. However, if the front does not make it through then sun & unseasonable warmth will be with us. Stay tuned to News 8 for the latest through the weekend.
Have a great day everyone!
