Some Rain Moving In
Written by John DiPasquale:
A weakening cold front is pushing into the area & producing clouds & some rain this afternoon, & it could become heavy at times late today & tonight. Some of the area, possibly including the Greater Rochester area may receive up to as much as two inches of rain between noon today, Tuesday, & 7am Wednesday! This would likely result in some localized urban, poor drainage & small stream flooding tonight & early tomorrow. Thankfully, the heavier rain potential should go away in time for much of the morning commute Wednesday with just a scattering of lighter showers & drizzle/mist around to begin tomorrow. The weakening cold front, though, will likely stall overhead for our Wednesday which will keep a few showers/storm around through our hump day. Temperatures will remain mild on Wednesday as highs will be in the low to mid 70s, similar to what we will feel today.
The upper level storm that has been plaguing the Upper Midwest, Chicago area since last Thursday will finally get pushed along into our region later Wednesday night into Thursday. This will produce more seasonable temperatures, 60s to around 70 & another round of some rain/storm during the aformentioned time frame.
A strong cold front & it's strong associated upper level trough, the culprit for pushing the lost upper level storm along will come crashing through Friday with a few showers & wind. Temperatures will tumble back into the upper 50s to around 60 for highs to end the week, but will likely struggle to hit the low & mid 50s Saturday with lots of wind & a few lake showers. Ughh!! I know. I hate to even state this, but there's even a CHANCE for a few ice pellets/flakes to mix in with the lake shower activity in the high terrain south of the thruway later Saturday into Saturday night! Here's the good news, though, Sunday the weather will improve some. After a cold, possibly frosty for some, start we should recover to around 60 with the help of a decent amount of sun. It will get even warmer early next week with more sunshine!
