Slow Improvements Today, but...

Written by John DiPasquale:

After a gloomy start to our Tuesday, the clouds are beginning to part a bit & intervals of sun are breaking through late this morning. I do expect more in the way of breaks of sun to develop later this afternoon, as drier air builds in from the west. The nor'easter that has been a thorn in our side since late Friday night will slowly lose it's grip on the area later today & especially tonight. The nor'easter will send one more feature through the region late tonight into Wednesday morning. It will be a backdoor cold front, & lucky for us the core of the cold air will stay off to the east & northeast of WNY. However, it will still cool some later Wednesday after reaching an early afternoon high between 60 & 65. We should feel the air cool back into the 50s by dinner time. Sky conditions on our Wednesday will become mostly sunny after some morning clouds with the front itself.

Wednesday night into Thursday, a strong, large, chilly area of high pressure will build in out of Canada. This will provide us with lots of starshine & the coldest night we've felt since last spring. As matter of fact, it will turn so cold late Wednesday night & early Thursday, that patchy frost will likely develop! Lows for many of us early Thursday will be in the 30s. Tons of early October sun will get us back into the low 60s Thursday afternoon, but nonetheless it will definitely feel a bit cool.

After a chilly, but mainly frost free night Thursday night, we will see a good deal of sun again Friday as the high pressure system slides just off to the south. This will instigate more of a west-southwest flow of milder air to round out the week, as highs should be up near 70!

The same area of high pressure will also control the weekend & first part of next week, & possibly beyond that! Expect a lot more sun, & unseasonably warm temperatures over the weekend & into much of next week!! Highs with sun should have no problem climbing well into the 70s to possibly even 80 come Sunday! Yes, this weekend looks great for any outdoor activities! Enjoy!

Have a great day WNY!
